GIVING IMMUNOCOMPROMISED CHILDREN THE GIFT OF CHILDHOOD

Star Learning Center ensures the emotional and social health of medically fragile children.

While doctors work on healing their bodies, the incredible team at Star Learning Center motivates minds - keeping children stimulated, engaged, and excited to face another day.

Safe in our warm and cheerful environment, children enjoy a school experience:

Where students of all types, speaking many different languages, sing the Aleph Bais, learn the Parsha, and share Lego blocks and doll carriages.

Where every birthday is celebrated - not just as a regular milestone - but as a fervent prayer for many more to come.

Where little warriors forget their tubes, ports, and painful treatments. Where they laugh and play and enjoy arts & crafts and silly songs.

“Kochavim was a safe haven for our son, where he could have fun and feel like any other kid in a classroom setting. We don’t know how we would have coped without Kochavim by our side!”

A School Without Walls

When our students can't come to school due to treatment schedules or inpatient hospital stays, we bring school to them.

HOME-BASED + HOSPITAL-BASED EDUCATION

Star Learning Center is structured around the realities of pediatric illness. Our Morahs-on-Wheels travel to homes and hospitals across NYC daily, so children can benefit from the structure and excitement of a school day no Matter where their condition requires them to be. Students also love joining their friends for daily classes on Zoom, where they can daven together, see their favorite Morahs again, and even answer some of the parsha questions.
Zoom Boxes
Our Dedicated team ships out weekly zoom boxes with everything students need to follow along with classes on Zoom. Students are so proud to hang the crafts they made with their classmates by their bedside or on their refrigerator.
Parsha Videos
Personalized Parsha videos for children who can't attend school.
Hospital Resources
There's a lot about our frum lifestyle that's foreign to hospital support teams. We provide informational packets and resources for nurses and child-life specialists to minimize cultural barriers and cultivate trust and cooperation.
School Resources
When a student or their family member is diagnosed with an illness, there are so many ways their native school can help. With years of experience and the input of experienced mental health professionals, Kochavim provides guidance and resources to schools to help them support their students in crisis.

“We are so lucky to be able to send our daughter here every day, and know that she’s in the best hands!”

REGISTER

At our school, it's registration season all year round.

No-one plans for illness to strike. But when it does, the doors at Star Learning Center are open, enabling medically fragile children to learn in a warm, sterile, and safe environment.
